Classroom House Rules

And Ettiquttes

Congratulations on your noble efforts in seeking knowledge. May Allah reward you.

There is no absolute substitute for sitting and learning in the presence of teachers. However, online courses can serve as an ideal alternative for those who aren’t able to do so. Rashad Academy is privileged to offer all of its online courses free.

Nevertheless, this does not mean that one should take online free lessons lightly or without full commitment. Just as one would be required to abide by classroom rules and etiquettes when studying in a physical classroom, there are similar guidelines for studying online.

In order to ensure that our students gain maximum benefit from our courses and teachers, and not just passively attend online, we have expect our students to observe the following:

(1) Attendance:

  • Studying anything properly requires commitment and consistency. Studying the religion requires an even greater level of dedication. We expect our students to attend all live sessions, for the full duration of the lesson. If, due to unavoidable circumstances, one must miss a lesson, please inform the teacher at least an hour before the next lesson (the sooner the better). Our (very friendly) teachers will be happy to assist you in making up the missed learning, and you will also receive a recording of the lesson upon request. Recordings will be accessible for 7 days, and must not be shared.
  • Students who miss 2 lessons without notifying the teacher will be removed from the classroom. Although this may come across as harsh, the objectives of Rashad Academy isn’t to simply share information, but to educate and inspire. Therefore, it is of paramount importance that students display full commitment. Attendance will be monitored both at the beginning and ending of lessons.

(2) Tracking progress:

  • Our teachers will regularly check to ensure that students are progressing well, and assist them as much as possible so that they don’t find lessons too overwhelming. We expect students to engage in any classroom discussions as much as possible, including recap of previous lessons. When a teacher sets an assessment, it is mandatory for students to complete it by the set deadline. If a student cannot do so, he/she must contact the teacher, who will advise further.
  • There will be a platform to ask teachers and fellow students questions or have discussions strictly related the class.

(3) Classroom Etiquettes:

  • When in the virtual classroom, the teacher is the host and will have their camera and mic switched on. The remaining students should have cameras switched off at all times, and only use their mics if asked to by their teachers. Students who don’t feel comfortable in using their mics will not have to, and can type instead. Students will only be allowed to talk to the teacher in most cases, but classroom discussions with each other may be enabled at times. It goes without saying that students must be sensible and not message others inappropriately.
  • Asking questions is encouraged, but without being disruptive.
  • Once again, these guidelines are in place to ensure a productive, enjoyable and inspiring learning experience.
